Rico & Mambo Artist Of The Week: The Majors

26 August, 2009 at 9:32 am

Growing up on the same street in Oxnard, California, Dunn (Daniel Cabral) and Lazo (Alexander Hernandez) got in the hip hop game over twelve years ago. Three and a half years ago, Dunn and Lazo decided to step up their game and The Majors was formed. Their experience in the streets has led them from state wide rap battles and corner block ciphers, to live performances with groups, such as, Bow Wow, The Dream, Too Short, Sugafree, Second II None, Mack 10, Paul Wall, Down, Lil Uno, Roscoe Umali, Mistah Fab, Capone E, Criminal, Big Gemini, Mims, Baby Bash, Frankie J, Paule DeAnda, Slime of 112, MC Magic, Lil Rob, La La, Brown Boy, La Sinfonia, Rigo Luna, Akwid, Crooked Stilo, David Rolas, Paper Boy and The Beatnutz. The entertaining content of their raps have got them both T.V. (They landed a role in an independent film currently in post production and have starred in Down’s upcoming music video for Cholo Skate) and Radio airplay (Over 22 cities tracked on Mediabase) across the U.S.

After being in the studio the past year and a half, The Majors have recorded with some of the hottest producers on the planet. Influenced by their predecessors, such as, 2 Pac, Jayz, Notorious, and Snoop, their music takes you on a voyage that depicts the group’s unique yet versatile style of music. The Majors have been in the studio with legendary producer Fingazz of Streetlight Music (Lean Like a Cholo) to record their first radio single Wassup Wit It which was released early 2008. The second single Worst Way was produced by Eddie G and The Professor of Mach 1 Music (Colby O’Donnis, High School Musical) in conjunction with Rik Raf Entertainment and it is currently being promoted to radio. Other producers they’ve worked with include Damon Thomas and Saint Nick from The Under Dogs (Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Jordan Sparks), Jimmy Klev (Mya, Baby Bash, Too Short), DJ Frank E of Red Hot Beats (Flo Rida, Plies, Jamie Fox, The Dream), M.I.D.R.A.T.S., and up and coming producers Scott Swoosh, Barbaryan Beats,”The Genuine Artikal”(Oxnard), and Kenstramentalz (Second II None). Their songs feature singers Mikael (Cyclone w/ Baby Bash and Tpain), Luke (of Underdog Entertainment), Damon Reel and Melissa Lujan (Shut up and kiss me), with up and coming singers Don Sean and Chantal Lewis.
The Majors are currently in a production deal with First Rounder’s Entertainment (FRE). They are also in a Joint Venture with Mix Matters. The group is currently seeking a record or distribution deal with a Major or Independent Label .

Dilemma Of The Day (8/26)

26 August, 2009 at 12:03 am

Hey guys I have a dilemma and need your help. My friend and her boyfriend have been together for a year, and I’ve always felt like he’s attracted to me. I’ve dated a couple of his friends, and he always puts them down and tells me they’re not good enough for me. The other night, he got really drunk and when we weren’t around his girlfriend he told me HE LOVES ME. I shrugged it off at first, but he said it again, and he seemed totally serious. Should I tell my friend that her boyfriend said this? Should I ask him about it? Or should I just let it go, because he was drunk?
Good Friend

“Good Friend”,
There is only one reason why you should ask him about it…that’s only if your interested in this guy! Face it, he was drunk and regardless of how many times he may have said it, it’s your “Friends” man!!! I think you just need to let it go, unless “You wanna be starting something” like the late Michael Jackson! Good luck,
Rico!

Good Friend,
When I get drunk I tell everyone I love them. I think he was drunk and he probably doesn’t even remember telling you that. I would just let it go, because as soon as you tell your friend the first thing she’s gonna do is ask him and we all know he’s gonna deny it. So just let it go. If he tried to make a move on you, you should say something but if it was just drunk talk, LET IT GO.
