Apple Unveils iPhone 5

12 September, 2012 at 11:11 am

It’s an absolute jewel,” Shiller said. For the most part, the iPhone 5 looks like previous models, but taller and thinner.

The phone, which is said to be made entirely of glass and aluminum, is also thinner overall. It’s just 7.6 mm thin, 18% thinner than the iPhone 4S. It also weighs 112 grams, 20% lighter than the 4S.

The phone has a 4-inch 1,136 x 640 pixel display, 4G LTE connectivity, A6 chip, weights 112 grams – 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S.

The larger display allows for widescreen display. Apps designed for the previous operating system will not be stretch, but will have black borders.

One of the biggest updates is to the camera and iSight. The camera now has an 8 megapixel sensor, 3,264 x 2,448 pixel resolution with backside illumination, hybrid IR filter, five-element lens, f2.4 aperture, is 25 percent smaller and can take panoramic photos.

The video camera captures 1080p HD quality. Front-facing camera features 720p support, backside illuminated sensor, and FaceTime works over 3G with iOS 6.

The iPhone 5 will also get a new dock connector called Lightening, which is 80 percent smaller, have an adaptive interface, improved durability and is reversible. Apple will also release an adaptor to make the transition.
The new iPhone includes improvements to voice calls, too. It’s now equipped with three separate microphones — on the front, on the bottom and on the back. Apple says the multiple mics will help Siri’s performance. The earpiece is equipped with more noise cancellation, and there’s also now “wideband audio” technology, which is said to make voice calls more natural — similar to HTC’s HD Voice tech in the Evo 4G LTE.

The iPhone 5 goes on sale Sept. 21 in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. It has similar pricing to its predecessors, starting at $199 for 16GB of storage with a two-year contract, and there are 32GB and 64GB models available for $299 and $399, respectively. Pre-orders start Sept. 14. Apple says the phone will be available in 100 countries on 240 wireless carriers by the end of the year.

Apple is keeping the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in its lineup. The iPhone 4 (8GB) is now free with a contract, and the iPhone 4S (16GB) costs $99.

Simon Cowell Wants Khloe Kardashian to Host X Factor

12 September, 2012 at 6:34 am

Simon Cowell went on the Ellen Degenerous Show this week and revealed that he wants Khloe Kardashian to be the new host of X Factor, saying

“We have screen tested a load of people… It could be a [Khloe] Kardashian. I think that would work. I’m quite a fan of not putting [experienced] hosts on this show. Because I think it’s going to give it a different dynamic. So we have to find people who have a great chemistry, but Khloe is definitely up there in running.”

Fox still has to approve Khloe as a host, but if Simon says that’s what he wants then that’s probably what will happen.

Chris Brown Says New Tattoo is Not Rihanna

12 September, 2012 at 5:59 am

Chris Brown’s rep told the media yesterday that his tattoo is not of Rihanna or of a battered woman, it is actually Dia De Los Muertos skull.

Chris’s rep told TMZ, His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported.”

The tattoo artists said Chris Brown brought him the “sugar skull” design from a MAC ad the singer had seen.
