“Moana” (PG)

16-year-old Auli’i Cravalho is Moana, a Hawaiian princess who goes on a quest across the ocean to find a shapeshifting demi-god named Maui and convince him to help save her island from monsters. The Rock plays Maui and does his own singing in the movie.
It includes songs by “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Rock does one, and Jemaine Clement from “Flight of the Conchords” does another as a monstrous crab. Nicole Scherzinger is also in it as Moana’s mom.

“Allied” (R) Trailer

Brad Pitt plays an officer during World War II who’s told the French Resistance fighter he married is actually a German spy. He’s given 72 hours to prove her innocence, and ordered to execute her himself if it turns out to be true.
French actress Marion Cotillard plays his wife. There were rumors they were having an off-screen affair before Brad and Angelina broke up, but nothing ever came of that.

“Bad Santa 2” (R)

Billy Bob Thornton returns as Willie Soke, a fake Santa who plans to rip off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve with the help of his angry little sidekick. Christina Hendricks is the well-chested charity director. And Kathy Bates joins the cast as Billy Bob’s mom.

“Rules Don’t Apply” (PG-13)

Lily Collins plays an aspiring young actress under contract to Howard Hughes in the ’50s who falls in love with her driver . . . defying Hughes’ #1 rule that no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress.
Alden Ehrenreich from the upcoming Han Solo movie plays her driver, and Warren Beatty plays Howard Hughes. Beatty also directed it. The rest of the cast includes Matthew Broderick, Martin Sheen, and Alec Baldwin.
