“The Space Between Us” (PG-13)

Asa Butterfield from “Ender’s Game” is the first human born on Mars. He comes to Earth for the first time and romances Britt Robertson, a girl he’s been video chatting with from space.
Unfortunately, his organs can’t handle our atmosphere, so he doesn’t have a lot of time to find the dad he never knew and experience everything else he’s been missing.
Carla Gugino plays the astronaut who raises him after his mom dies in childbirth, and Gary Oldman is the billionaire who owns the company that colonized Mars.

“Rings” (PG-13)

The third movie in “The Ring” series reveals more about the origins of Samara, but it’s not getting very good reviews. Matilda Lutz plays a chick who’s worried about her boyfriend’s interest in a videotape that kills people seven days after they watch it.
So she sacrifices herself to save him and discovers there’s a “movie within the movie” no one’s ever seen before. Johnny Galecki and Vincent D’Onofrio are in it too.

“Wheeler” (PG) (Limited)

Stephen Dorff plays an aspiring country singer trying to make it in Nashville. It’s filmed to look like a documentary, with Stephen infiltrating the Nashville music scene by wearing prosthetic make-up so people wouldn’t recognized him when he performed.
Dorff co-wrote the movie, helped compose the music, and co-wrote the lead single. It’s a song called “Pour Me Out Of This Town”, which his brother Andrew helped him write before he passed away in December. Kris Kristofferson is in it too, as himself.

“The Comedian” (R) (Limited)

Robert DeNiro is sentenced to 100 hours of community service after assaulting someone in his dwindling audience. That’s where he meets Leslie Mann, who inspires him to revitalize his comedy career.
Danny DeVito plays his brother. It also includes cameos by Billy Crystal, Gilbert Gottfried, Brett Butler, and Jimmie Walker.

“I Am Not Your Negro” (PG) (Limited)

A documentary that breathes new life into an unfinished book by civil rights activist James Baldwin. He was writing about the assassinations of his friends, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and civil rights leader Medgar Evans, when he died in 1987.
It’s nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar against “OJ: Made in America” and “13th”, which is about the 13th Amendment . . . the one that abolished slavery.
Samuel L. Jackson narrates from the book, and they show a lot of archive footage from Baldwin’s own speeches and TV appearances.

“Eloise” (R) Trailer (Limited)

Chace Crawford breaks into an abandoned insane asylum with three of his friends to look for a death certificate that will help him get a large inheritance. Too bad the place is haunted. Eliza Dushku and Brandon T. Jackson are also in it.
